Weeks 31 and 32

Week 31 (June 20)

hello!

Well, thankfully not too much to report this week. Things are still kind of status quo around here. With just about 2 months until D-Day, we need to get working on the baby's room and I'm hoping this weekend we make some good progress. I know that once we get it painted, I will be able to get in there and hang curtains and figure out furniture placement and see what else I need to help bring the room together. Right now it all just feels so disjointed and messy that it's hard to have a "vision". I know it will come together, but I think I am finally starting to get antsy!

I think my belly has grown in the last couple days and it suddenly feels much bigger to me. The baby is a mover and shaker and lately has been moving so much that it is actually uncomfortable/distracting. At night on the couch I see this huge HUMP on one side of my belly and feel something sticking out of my right side (maybe feet at my side and butt at my bellybutton?) Either way, it looks and feels....interesting. I always say the movement part of pregnancy is my favorite, but after a while (and certain movements) can be annoying. I feel lots of hiccups and lots of rolling about. The baby is a little less shy now and doesn't seem to stop all movement if you put your hand to my belly anymore. Possibly just due to size, he can't really hold back anymore.

In other "news", we bought a new monitor with 2 cameras. Our monitor is decent, but in the last 2.5 years with constant use it is not exactly stellar. The picture is fuzzy and dark and while it does the job, I didn't want to spend 90 bucks to add on another camera for another fuzzy, poor quality image. Doug did a little researching and found something that I hope is awesome, for less than what we paid for our 1 camera monitor. This way we can see both kids at one time on one screen. Excited!

My health: okay.  Some days I am exhausted (and I know I've done too much) and just want to lay on the couch and be lazy and not do anything. Other days I feel completely fine and able and happy and good. Thankfully so far it seems the good still outweighs the bad. I do enjoy a good cuddle on the couch with Anna though, so that's a plus. Still sleeping pretty well - up once a night to pee, normally around 3am, readjusting myself on pillows, etc. a few times but [knock on wood] I am mainly comfortable.  Have been dealing with INTENSE heartburn over the last couple weeks, that literally takes my breath away. I have to stay away from spicy food of all kinds or pay the price. Sometimes it seems like nothing at all is the cause, I guess I am just running out of stomach space in there and that acid has to go somewhere........mmmmm. Have also dealt with some sciatic pain on my left side. I've been using an ice pack at night after Anna goes to bed and then switching to heat when I go upstairs. The combo seems to help so I'll stick to it for now!

In other news, we bought Anna's flower girl dress for Brian & Kelly's wedding. She looks SO unbelievably cute and I can't wait to see her all done up on their wedding day. 3 weeks to go!  I just have to figure out how to best do her hair and get some shoes. Won't ruin the surprise with a pic just yet, but just know it is perfect! Like she said "I'm a princess!!!"

Week 32 (June 27)

Happy Friday
6 more weeks of work!

Yay for us! We cleared out the old moulding in the baby's room, spackled, sanded and got the first coat of paint on this past weekend. When I say "we", I of course mean my team.... of which I am just the creative director at the moment I guess. Doug did the 'construction' jobs and my parents came in to zip through the paint in a little over 2 hours. They got 2 coats on 2 of the walls before essentially running out of paint and then an emergency at the boatyard pulled them away. I will get more paint this week and the remaining 2 walls will be painted this Sunday. I LOVE it so far - the color is bright and cheerful, and while "blue" I don't think that when I'm all done it will necessarily scream "boy" to me. (We'll see!)

My mom has been buying up lots of goodies from our Amazon wish list like a bandit and I am starting to make all kinds of lists in my head of all the things that need to be pulled from storage to prepare. (Yay Doug!)  I'm pretty sure we're going to carpet the room too, so we have to decide on that before setting up the furniture - no one wants to lug that heavy Ikea stuff around more than you have to! All of this needs to happen fairly soon, although the new moulding needs to go in first before carpet.

I bought blackout blinds and have curtains and rods ready, which always helps make the room look put together. I do have to paint the window frames but that won't take long. Making progress feels GOOD for my list-making soul.

Had my doctor's appointment on 6/25 and everything was good. Blood pressure hanging in at 100/60, weight at a good and respectable number (not sharing), and baby's heartbeat was in the 140's (he may have said 140 or 140's, but I guess it doesn't much matter). Everything is as to be expected, growth on track. He did make a prediction and say it's a boy, but I guess we'll see. Next appointment is July 11. Then we move on to every week appointments. Is that real life??

Lots of movements, strong and forceful stuff. Lots of bunching up and taking my breath away! At night I get a bulge out of my left side near my belly button and on my right side below my ribs - like stretching feet and arms or something at the same time. It is uncomfortable and wild to see! I also feel like my belly has doubled in size this week. It can't be possible but it is most definitely rounder/larger than it was a week ago!! (Also related... how on EARTH am I going to grow for 8 more weeks?)

I really love seeing comparisons, apparently

This one just makes me laugh...
From the SKINNY body that I didn't even realize I had, to Anna in the bottom of the 1st pic, to her little self quietly watching TV in the second shot, and the crap in my room that really hasn't changed much either.

Here's to the next 9 weeks!!!

Weeks 29 and 30

Since we are officially OUT of the 2nd trimester and fully into 3rd trimester territory, I thought I'd do one of these "fun" comparisons.  Living with my belly every day sometimes I look and think "not too bad" and sometimes I think "WOAH MOMMA".  I think we'll be landing firmly on the side of "woah momma" from here on out. Be kind if you see me, the only acceptable thing to say to a pregnant woman is "You look wonderful". Nothing else.

Moving on....

Week 29 (June 6)

excuse my awkward face and pose
It's sometimes hard to get these shots before
anyone walks in on me!

Not a lot to report this week, thankfully.  Feeling okay, still sleeping alright. In bed every night and sound asleep by 10:30, up once to pee, a couple times to reposition with the stupid huge pregnancy pillow (which does help my aches and pains but it is so BIG it's hard to get comfortable) but mostly able to fall back to sleep quickly.  Some women talk about pregnancy insomnia and [knock on wood] I haven't experienced that yet with either Anna or this baby. Seems like a cruel joke, doesn't it? You stay up in the middle of the night wide awake for hours for no reason and then the baby arrives and you're up all night for weeks, delirious. Man, it really is true... they have to be cute or you'd never do it again! ;)

I am starting to wonder about how the heat will affect me, though. This week after work, my feet were a little puffy when I got home. I'm sure some of that is normal, but I really, really don't want cankles. (vain, whatever). I'll ask the doctor what's normal and not when I have my appointment next week.

Bought the crib, dresser/changing table and bookshelf for Baby2.0 this past weekend. Trying to make a plan to get in there and start painting, making progress. I wrote out all our weekends for the rest of the summer and I can't even believe how busy we are. Thankfully the room isn't huge and I have a good team, we can bang it all out in one day. I can paint the windows beforehand, we're going to measure for new moulding and hopefully in the next few weeks we can make some good progress! I'll update with pictures when there is something to report!

Week 30 (June 13)
[Also known as POP TART WEEK]

I don't feel as angry as I look
It's awkward to smile for these I think

This week the baby movements have really continued in earnest. I am feeling much more power behind them and sometimes it takes me by surprise! It's as if I can feel bones and things poking around and rolling past my belly and it is as strange as it sounds.

Had my doctors check-up on 6/11 and everything was good. Blood pressure perfect, baby's heartbeat at 152bpm (staying pretty steady there) and was told my weight gain was "perfect", which made me selfishly happy, of course. The nurse said it was all in my belly and asked if it was a boy... oh people and their funny old wives tales. We'll see! Doctor said swelling in the feet is "totally normal and I should get used to it" and by the end it will be only flip-flops. That it doesn't signify something dangerous unless you have a host of other symptoms, and chances are lower with a second pregnancy (preeclampsia, etc) So I'll just have to get used to it and keep my feet up whenever possible!  Also got the Rhogam shot again, which wasn't a big deal. If the baby is RH positive after birth I have to get another shot. I don't remember that last time but everything was a blur back then!! (Anna's blood is A+) Next appointment on June 25.

Oh pop tart week... I love pop-tarts. It's something I don't allow myself to have on a regular basis (I think the last time I had one was when I was pregnant with Anna), so I clearly find them to be a treat. I decided last time I wouldn't allow myself to have them until I was 30 weeks and so I decided to go that route again. At the store on Thursday, I bought my first box and they were heavenly. Worth the wait, for sure.

Also, I have a lower tolerance for people it seems. Someone came into my office today and said "oh you look big today!" and I said that's never a nice thing to say to anyone and they were stunned by my reaction. This isn't the first time this has happened at work and I'm sure I'm not making any friends (boo hoo), but I just don't understand why people think it's okay to comment on your size just because you're pregnant. It's still my body and regardless of your intent, I just really don't find it okay.  I don't go up to guys and say "Man that's quite a belly you've got today, looks bigger than last week!"  Maybe I'll start now, seems like it's all fair game.

Otherwise things are kind of status quo for now... 8 weeks left of work. No progress on nursery, but paint color chosen & purchased. Slowly buying things for new baby. No girl name in the running yet. Boy name likely settled on (but we don't talk about it as if to jinx liking it or something!).  Jumpy leg at night, using my heating pad religiously after Anna goes down to help combat.  Walking a few mornings a week and of course staying active with Anna!  Things I am loving to eat:  fruit. Sweet tarts. cereal. Greek-style food. chocolate. treats (I sound like Anna)  Hair has finally stopped shedding and now comes the fun part where I don't lose any hair for 4 months and then it all falls out at one time after the baby arrives.

70+/- Days left!
Here's to making them the best they can be :)

Anna at 2.5 Years

I can hardly believe our little fireball has been in our lives for 2.5 years... it seems like it's flown by and also like she's been here forever. (World's worst cliché... but so TRUE!) Some days she feels older than the 2.5 and some days she is just SO TWO that I can hardly stand it and pray for the sweet release of bedtime.

So, in the interest of our collective memory, I wanted to get down all that I could about Anna at this age and stage and what we've been up to (aside from baby growing and all that fun stuff).

Anna's 2.5 Year Stats:

Height: unknown... we should try to get on this measuring thing.
Weight: still around 31 pounds, I think. She'll get on our scale and if that's accurate, that's what it reads.
Shoe Size:  Between a 5 and 6... although most of her shoes are too big on her now, as 5's don't fit and they don't really seem to make a 5.5 anywhere.
Clothes Size:  almost fully in 3T. Can still wear some 2T stuff, but it mostly ends up looking too short or tight..
Diaper Size: Moved on up to size 6. Which means legit potty training must be on the horizon...(Lord help us)
Hair:  Still beautifully coppery red, curly and wild. I love every single hair on that head.
Sleep:  Bedtime mostly around 8ish, sometimes later depending on mood/stories/bath shenanigans. Nap mostly around 12:30 or 1 - about 2 hours or so, depends on the day.
Biggest Likes:  Playing at the park- very brave on all the slides, swings, climbing everything - with reckless abandon. Loves going for bike rides. Being outside in general. Loves dogs and is curious about bugs. Loves snuggling on the couch with the blue blanket to watch Super Why or a movie. Loves bubbles.
Biggest Dislikes: Being told no. Stopping something fun. Above anything else - getting her hair rinsed in the bath is like TORTURE.
Favorite Foods:  "treats" of all kinds. Prefers goldfish, cookies of any kind, cereal - loving Cheerio's again [and loves drinking milk from the bowl during and after], love clementines and all fruit mostly, loves pickles to my dismay, pancakes, french toast, avocado, grilled cheese, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, cucumber (cumber!), chicken (both nuggets and grilled), will eat cheeseburger (a relatively new development), will eat other things from our plates - pork, meatloaf, pizza, etc. but not consistent. Loves bread and butter. Loves applesauce & yogurt.
Least Favorite Foods:  still won't touch mac & cheese or pasta of any kind. This seems to be the only thing we keep trying and she has zero interest in. Oh, she won't eat peppers or carrots.
Favorite Phrases: "You get a boo boo and cry all those tears"; "Don't worry, it's okay, it's just a bee"; "Don't mess with me Daddy!"
New Developments: singing songs - "hush little baby, don't say a word", all the songs from Frozen, her ABC's (intelligible and mostly correct!), the birthday song, songs from Little Mermaid.  She can count past 15, and recognizes & names lots of colors (pink, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, black, white, "stripes", "polka dots") - although sometimes it comes out like "GreenYellowPurple"... the real color is in there but apparently mixed with some others. Noticed she can draw a recognizable circle if you ask her to. Need to work more on shapes in general.  Tries to dress herself- although as part of her personality, gets VERY angry when she can't get things to go on correctly. Can get socks on, pants off, diaper off (and in the garbage!), can help with putting shirt on and arms in, struggles most with pants.

I'm sure I could go on and on and it feels like every day is something new and different, but I guess that's the way it goes nowadays, changing every minute.  Till I craft up another masterpiece (ha), here are some photos of the many faces of Anna.
