15-Month Update

As I like to do, thought I'd check in for an update on Anna's current stats as of 15 months + some days..

Currently..

Determined to break the scale at the doctor's office...
(maybe she should, since they let us wait for 40+mins..as the FIRST appointment of the day!)

Weight:  24.4 lbs  (75th percentile)
Height:  30.25 inches (50th percentile)

Diaper Size: 4
Clothing Size: pretty consistently in 18 month clothes.
Shoe Size: 4
Battle with sneakers lasted one short day, now she's an old pro at walking in them and having adventures outside. Hard to find cute size 4 sneakers though.

Hair: still delightfully red. Gets lots of attention. "Where does the red hair come from??"  Starting to really GROW and getting a little curl in the back, which I LOVE.  I hope she has curly hair, at least for a while. Super cute.

Eyes: a mix of blue and gray. Very pretty and unique.

Sleep:  HAAAAAAA. Like I'd talk about it on here (or anywhere!) and jinx anything ;)
I will say she is pretty good about 1 nap now, about 2.5 hours or so, depending on the day/location/mood.  So, really.. anything goes.

Favorite Foods:  COOKIES (deetee's), eggs, avocado (can't even put them in the cart at the store if she sees cause she goes nuts), CHEESE, mini pancakes, blueberries, bananas, quesadilla, chicken fingers, cherry tomatoes (but only the insides)

Least Favorite:  hmm...  it really varies.  She has a different opinion about her food every single day.

Most favorite activities:  watching WOODY (Toy Story 3).  Looking for babies and doggies. playing 'bouncy bouncy' on a bed. Looking at the baby in the mirror.  being chased and tickled.  hugging her stuffed doggy.  Pointing out NOSE on anyone.

Least favorite activities:  bath time (just hair rinsing), diaper changes, anything being taken away from her (cue: hilarious tantrum).  Sometime getting strapped in the car is THE WORST but sometimes she could care less.  Fickle.

Over CT... to grandmother's house we go

So this weekend was our big getaway to Boston and Anna's first full weekend with Grandma and Grandpa in Rhode Island!

We left early on Friday so Anna would hopefully nap the whole way up and we were pretty successful.  She slept for an hour and a half, sat quietly for quite a while and then the last 45 minutes or so I had to sit in the back and feed her, entertain her, etc.  She was actually very well behaved!  We made it in record time with no stops and no traffic, which was what we were aiming for.  Doug and I had time to visit, and help Anna get adjusted to Grandma and Grandpa's house before we left for the weekend.  She was great - got right into playing, running around, had some lunch, found lots of bears to hug and generally was super happy.  I knew she'd have a great time and we left feeling happy & confident.

By the time we got out of town, we ended up hitting some traffic on the way into Boston, but overall our trip wasn't awful.  Found the hotel no problem, dumped our stuff and met up with Doug's cousins Katie & Chrissie and their husbands.  Not a far walk to the restaurant and even though we were a bit early, they took us no problem.  The food was delicious (we ate in the famous North End of Boston), had a great time catching up and laughing, even got to cross the street for some delicious pastries at Modern Pastry - the "non-tourist" spot ;)  After we parted ways, Doug and I stopped for a nightcap at our hotel bar and enjoyed some people watching and chatted.

Saturday morning we met up with Tiff and her boyfriend Chris for brunch and ate and drank ourselves very happy.  We caught up on months of 'stuff' and I'm sure talked more about Anna then they wanted!  We were missing her terribly and even woke up and watched videos of her on our phones like 2 losers!

Later we met up with Kara and Mel and went bowling which was SO much fun!  I always forget how much I love bowling and also how SORE I get! I swear my butt hurt for 3 days after.  (p.s. out of shape)  We went back to the hotel to relax before we met up for dinner later, had some wine and chatted some more.  It was so nice to be reunited with old friends and talk just like no time had passed.  It's one of the things I love the most about our friendships - the ability to pick up right where we left off.

We headed home on Sunday in a "snow storm" (HA! They were calling for first 12 inches, then 6, then 3, and what happened..... RAIN!  So glad we didn't cancel!)  We were both anxious to get home to Anna and snuggle and play with her.  She was so happy to be reunited and we had tons of fun playing and laughing.  We decided to save ourselves the trouble/stress and stayed in RI one more night and left Monday morning.  The only thing that did do was rob me of my 'laundry day' and suddenly it was Tuesday and we're back at work and it's thrown me off all week!

Anna had a great time with her grandparents.  They played, read books, visited Great Grandpa Siton in the nursing home (2x!), watched Toy Story (which Grandpa really got into ;), and overall had tons of fun.  We were so happy to give them that special time together & so glad they were happily willing to watch Anna all weekend for us!

A molar has popped through for our little miss - on her top left.  It's about halfway through. Causing her some pain, whiny-ness, general unhappiness and a runny nose. She's got a few more still trying to make their way down. I hate teeth, have I mentioned that recently?

what are YOU lookin at?

Other fun things of the past few weeks: language explosion!  SHE OFFICIALLY SAYS MOMMY! Literally "MOMMY" or "MUH-MAY" it's the cutest and funniest thing ever.  I have to capture it on video.  She does say mommy normally but a lot of the time is MUH-MAY. Kind of like "buh-bee" (baby).  On Valentine's morning Doug went into get her and he opened the door and she yelled MOMMY! It was so cute. She'll actually point to pictures of me and say it now, after almost 15 months of boycotting that.

She is doing a lot of repeating and trying to say things.  Mommy, baby are favorites.  We look on her "phone" for pictures of BABY! every day.  She knows certain commercials have babies on them and she runs to the TV to yell baby at it.  She says: duck, mooo (for a cow, obviously), bear, doggy, WOODY, Buzz, bee, DOW (instead of the full down, but it gets the point across), we have fully formed UPPY now - no up please in sight, NO! for nose, also regular old 'no' in reference to most everything.  Can say hat and knows that it belongs on her head even if she can't put it there by herself.  When we come home she runs to the basement door yelling DADDY even if Doug isn't working from home that day (very sad if he isn't home!).  I swear lately she's been trying to make a word that sounds like Gram but it's not consistent yet.  Also says 'books' for Brooks.  Knows when I say "Let's go see Miss Sandy" that it means Brooks time.  Generally very into Toy Story 3 and will sit nicely for 25+ minutes to watch.  WOODY WOODY WOODY is one of the most said words at home, close behind baby and UPPY.

We've been trying to get her to wear "real" shoes for a while now.  I bought her some cute sneakers and she absolutely HATES them. Refuses. Screams and throws a fit. Will not stand or walk, won't even crawl. It's sad and hilarious at the same time.  I was starting to get worried that she'd never want to walk in them for real and now that spring is just around the corner ;) we will be outside more and I can't carry her everywhere forever............  Enter Miss Sandy.  I brought in her sneakers and said maybe we could just try them here and there until she gets used to them.  About 11am I get a video of Anna walking around NO BIG DEAL in the sneakers.  Miss Sandy and her voodoo magic I say.  Whatever it is (stubbornness & letting Anna tantrum over it) she got her to wear the sneakers all damn day.  I love her. We'll see how Anna does with them from here on out!

So that's about it.  Next doctors appointment on March 15 for our 15 month check-up and I'm sure there will be shots involved.  Let's hope this time we go to 1 appointment and get the shots and call it DONE.
